Some organizations only remember their employees’ pockets during crises . As soon as the finance department feels financial pressure , it makes an urgent recommendation to the management to reduce spending , and the solution is simple and ready (reducing employees’ salaries , canceling some benefits) . Here lies the problem in a quick solution “ whose consequences are not studied ”, because it will certainly affect productivity and lead to a high rate of job turnover . Some organizations are always looking for a quick solution , and the weakest solution is the employee , instead of conducting a comprehensive review of operations and trying to reduce “ unnecessary procedures ” that are often low-cost but have an impact in the end . For example , Walmart reduced costs after discovering that the packaging process for products was more than necessary to protect the goods , so they reduced the layers of packaging to save millions of dollars and contribute to protecting the environment from waste . The most important question is : Who discovered this process ? Certainly , they are highly effective individuals , with a sense of responsibility and a sharp vision , and these are the people we are looking for in our organizations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ! Continuous development and improvement of processes , such as the use of new technology or training programs to enhance employee efficiency , is one of the most important solutions to reduce costs , increase the company’s competitiveness , and open up prospects for internal and external business development , in the spirit of abundance .
” Why should an employee who has served his company for years during the boom period and was part of its successes , pay the bill for any economic crisis , while he is certainly affected by the crisis ?” When a company reduces the salaries of its employees or gives them unpaid leave just to keep up with the trend , this is considered insulting , unprofessional and unethical , and also indicates the weakness of the leadership in the organization for choosing the most miserable and easiest solutions !! It is clear that some companies are suffering from a real financial crisis , especially during the Covid-19 crisis , but it is painful that they resorted to the easiest solutions since the first month . We suggest that if you have the opportunity , ask decision-makers if their home rents or monthly obligations have stopped due to this crisis , how can they expect loyalty from employees to their company and to give their best when they are the front line of defending their company during crises .
Last week , Amazon announced that it will pay $500 million in bonuses to its frontline employees and partners who are working during the COVID-19 pandemic , with bonuses ranging from $150 to $3,000 .
Finally , I would like to commend the companies that have benefited from the COVID-19 pandemic by creating opportunities and managing the crisis , such as improving and increasing production efficiency and opening up new areas and opportunities during the lockdown period , using digital and technological means to ensure the continuity of their operations and increase their profits . We also thank the leadership for what our beloved Kingdom has done to support the private sector during the COVID-19 crisis , and we commend those institutions that consider the employee as the most important capital they possess and focus on empowering them and increasing investment in individuals in their entirety and quality in order to promote justice and economic growth , because if they are empty , they perish .
